The National Enterprise Board (NEB) was a UK government body.
The National Enterprise Board was set up in the United Kingdom in 1975 to implement the Wilson Labour government’s objective of extending public ownership of industry. The plans were outlined in the 1974 White Paper The Regeneration of British Industry and the Industry Act 1975 enacted these measures, establishing the NEB.
By the time that the NEB was set up under the 1975 Industry Act its remit had been modified. Its primary role was now that of providing funds for industrial investment. It also had the specific roles of promoting the rationalisation of firms within particular sectors of industry, with stimulating the growth of exports and in assisting the development of small companies. Staff were recruited from a variety of backgrounds from both industry and the City.
It also had the task of dealing with a number of companies which had got into financial difficulty and had already come to the Government for assistance. These were very familiar names – British Leyland, Rolls Royce, Alfred Herbert, Sinclair Radionics and Ferranti.

A nib is the part of a quill, dip pen or fountain pen which comes into contact with the writing surface in order to deposit ink. Different types of nibs vary in their purpose, shape and size, as well as the material from which they are made.
The quill replaced the reed pen across Europe by the Early Middle Ages and remained the main writing tool of the West for nearly a thousand years until the 17th century. Quills are fashioned by cutting a nib into the end of a feather obtained from a fairly large bird, such as a goose, traditionally from its left wing. A quill has the advantage of being more durable and more flexible than a reed pen, and it can also retain ink in the hollow shaft of the feather, known as the calamus, allowing more writing time between ink dippings. The quill was in common use until the early 19th century and the advent of the metal nib. For business purposes, the quill was fairly quickly overtaken; however, it remains popular for personal use and for artistic work.

Beak (stylized BEAK> and also named Recordings 05/01/09 > 17/01/09) is the self-titled debut studio album by British band Beak>, released by the label Invada in October 2009. It was improvised and recorded in a twelve-day period without any overdubbing or repair. It earned generally positive reviews from critics upon release, holding an aggregate of 72 out of 100 on Metacritic.
Beak was written and recorded between 5–17 January 2009, improvised live without any overdubbing, at State Of Art Studios in Bristol, England. The reason for the improvised recording was that, according to member Geoff Barrow, “We’ve all played on really overdub-y records, but we felt like this wasn’t about that. We had enough of a sound between the three of us that we didn’t need to mess around with it.” However, in an L.A. Record interview with the entire group, they said there was might’ve been one tiny overdub, and that was done through discussion.
The recording on each day would start at twelve PM, and last until six. Some songs were played ten times, while some others had two or three versions made, but usually the first take was chosen to be featured on the final product. The only tracks that were done in one take were “Backwell” and “Battery Point”. Barrow said about the lyric writing, “I never wrote anything down. And what you hear is what happened in the [recording] room. Non-traditional vocals, really. I’m not a very lyrical person, and I’m definitely not a singer. I felt a little weird about it.” The album was engineered by Stuart Matthews, and finally mastered by Shawn Joseph at Optimum Mastering.
