Random information on the term “INN”:

The Independent News Network (also known as INN) is a production company based in Little Rock, Arkansas, which syndicates “localized” news programs for broadcast television stations in the United States, that have budgets limiting their ability to produce their own local newscasts.

In addition to producing local newscasts, INN also produces a Spanish language Hispanic News Network, or HNN, and INN News for national syndication.

The Regional News Network started in 1999 the Independent News Network and operated under that name. The company’s first client was Davenport Fox affiliate KLJB (channel 18). INN produced a half-hour primetime newscast for that station, titled the Fox 18 Nine O’Clock News, which started on December 31, 1999 until the station entered into a news share agreement with crosstown ABC affiliate WQAD-TV in September 2010.

The company started two syndicated general national news products in June 2002. “The American Times” and “INN News” were for stations and cable channels who did not want a customized news product. In October, a Montana regional newscast, Big Sky News, with some localization for five stations began.

B.E.D. (Beyond Every Definition) was a house duo consisting of Japanese musician Gota Yashiki and British producer James Wiltshire, which was mostly active in the early 2000s. They are primarily known for their collaborations with the vocalist Chloe Myers, including their only single, “Lay Me Down” (for which a music video was also made).

The group released just two albums with BMG (Ver. 1.0 and Ver. 1.5, the latter of which also contained several uptempo remixes of the first album’s songs) and were featured on several dance music compilations with original compositions as well as the aforementioned single. Several of the songs on the group’s debut album featured backing vocals and were written by English singer/songwriter Judie Tzuke.

While most of the duo’s songs were both written and programmed by both Yashiki and Wiltshire, only Yashiki played other instruments on the tracks, including bass, guitar and drums. The group’s song “Before I Leave” was also remixed by Wiltshire’s more widely known duo, Freemasons; the remix was included as a bonus track on the Japanese version of Ver. 1.5.

Random information on the term “SOFA”:

Sofa is a Mandinka term for slave soldiers who served in the army of the Mali Empire. Sofas would also fight, in varying capacities, in the armies of later Mandé states such as the Bamana and Wassoulou empires.

The word sofa translates into English as “father of the horse” (“so” means horse, and “fa” means “father”) or “guardian of the horse”. This term stems from the original function of the sofa as a caretaker for the horse or horses of Mandinka cavalry commanders called “farari”.

Sofas make their first appearance in oral and written records during the formation of the Mali Empire. Sofas were recruited from “jonow” (slaves) captured in battle or bought from afar. They could be depended on in most instances for obedience, since their livelihood depended entirely on their master. The institution of slavery in the Mali Empire heavily rewarded loyalty, and jonow could rise to civil or military positions of prominence. Jonow became part of their master’s clan, and were often freed after a certain amount of years.

Random information on the term “COT”:

The Chicago Opera Theater (COT) is an American opera company based in Chicago, Illinois. COT is resident at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Chicago’s Millennium Park. In addition to productions of selected operas from the core opera repertoire, COT has had an emphasis on American composers and performers who sing in English.

Alan Stone founded the company as the Chicago Opera Studio in 1974. Stone utilised Jones Commercial High School as the mainstage location for the company until 1976. Subsequently, the company held a residency at the Athenaeum Theatre on the north side of Chicago through 2004. The company also gave occasional performances at the Merle Reskin Theater of De Paul University and at Rosary College in River Forest, Illinois.

Stone served as artistic director of COT until 1993. General managers of COT have included Marc Scorsa (1984-1990), Mark Tiarks, Jean Perkins, and Joseph De Rugeriis.

Long-standing financial difficulties led to the buildup of a deficit at COT of $500K (USD) by the spring of 1993. De Rugeriis and the COT board of directors chose to cease operations before the close of the company’s 19th season. Following this initial shutdown of the company, the plan was for COT to reorganise its board and staff, and raise funds for a revival of the organisation. A $300K USD challenge grant caused the timetable to be accelerated. The company resumed operations in 1994, following a further series of high-level donations.

Random information on the term “FUTON”:

The availability heuristic is a mental shortcut that relies on immediate examples that come to a given person’s mind when evaluating a specific topic, concept, method or decision. The availability heuristic operates on the notion that if something can be recalled, it must be important, or at least more important than alternative solutions which are not as readily recalled. Subsequently, under the availability heuristic, people tend to heavily weigh their judgments toward more recent information, making new opinions biased toward that latest news.

The availability of consequences associated with an action is positively related to perceptions of the magnitude of the consequences of that action. In other words, the easier it is to recall the consequences of something the greater those consequences are often perceived to be. Most notably, people often rely on the content of their recall if its implications are not called into question by the difficulty that they experience in bringing the relevant material to mind.
