Random information on the term “___ bangs”:

The Model 1922 Bang rifle is a US semi-automatic rifle designed by the Danish arms designer Søren Hansen Bang. It was a modification of the earlier Models of 1909 and Model 1911 Bang rifles, both chambered in the .30-06 Springfield round.

It was gas operated, using a sliding muzzle cup system which was blown forward by the combustion gases while the bullet emerged from the barrel. During field trials in 1919 and 1927, the rifle was demonstrated by the designer. Because of its mechanical complexity and its susceptibility to gas fouling of the sliding muzzle cup, it was unsuccessful in US government testing.

The Bang blow-forward gas system, originally developed in 1903, inspired severeral other weapon developments: It was used in the unsuccessful French Puteaux APX machine gun of 1904 and its direct successor, the controversial St. Étienne Mle 1907 machine-gun. Also in the Gewehr 41 where it suffered the same shortcomings.

Random information on the term “EMO”:

Emo Oil is an Irish oil distribution brand that is based in Portlaoise and is named after a village called Emo in County Laois, Ireland. Emo Oil is owned by DCC Plc and also has operations in Northern Ireland and Great Britain.

Emo Oil operates out of several regional depots and petrol filling stations throughout the Republic of Ireland. It significantly expanded its operations in 1999, to include retail from filling stations with the purchase of the Burmah Fuels filling station network. Recently, Emo Oil has celebrated its 35th birthday.

DCC plc also own the nominally competing filling station franchise GreatGas, having bought it in 2009. However, there appears to be no plans to integrate this with Emo, as new GreatGas locations have continued to open – in particular at unmanned locations.

DCC plc also purchased the filling station operations of Tesco Ireland in 2020, but the future branding of these stations has not yet been announced.
