YES Prep Public Schools, Inc. is a network of public, open-enrollment charter schools located all throughout Greater Houston. The YES network has its headquarters in the Southwest Management District (formerly Greater Sharpstown), Houston. The YES program is a university-preparatory program for grades 9-12.

YES (which stands for Youth Engaged in Service) began in 1995 as Project YES. The program was founded at Rusk Elementary School in the Houston Independent School District. Since 1998, YES Prep has been operating under a state charter.

As of 2017, Yes Prep has opened seventeen schools located around Houston: Bray Oaks founded in 2009, East End (2006), Eisenhower (2016), Fifth Ward (2011), Gulfton (2007), Hoffman (2013), North Central (2003), North Forest (2010), Northbrook (2012), Northbrook High (2015), Northline(2017), Northside (2011), Southeast (1998), Southside (2015), Southwest (2004), West (2009), and White Oak (2013).

YES Prep’s focus is to help low-income students go to College. They offer “Spring Trip” which is an opportunity for students to go visit Colleges outside of Houston and around the country as a group. These are actually very helpful since it shows students that they can go to College out of state and it helps students see what kind of community the College has. They also give students reflection packages about what they liked about the school, events, etc. They also provide students with time to fill out the package and turn it in at the end of the trip.

Random information on the term “DEAL”:

In cryptography, Ladder-DES is a block cipher designed in 1994 by Terry Ritter. It is a 4-round Feistel cipher with a block size of 128 bits, using DES as the round function. It has no actual key schedule, so the total key size is 4×56=224 bits.

In 1997, Eli Biham found two forms of cryptanalysis for Ladder-DES that depend on the birthday paradox; the key is deduced from the presence or absence of collisions, plaintexts that give equal intermediate values in the encryption process. He presented both a chosen-plaintext attack and a known-plaintext attack; each uses about 236 plaintexts and 290 work, but the known-plaintext attack requires much more memory.

Random information on the term “SYNC”:

sync is a standard system call in the Unix operating system, which commits to disk all data in the kernel filesystem buffers, i.e., data which has been scheduled for writing via low-level I/O system calls. Note that higher-level I/O layers such as stdio may maintain separate buffers of their own.

As a function in C, the sync() call is typically declared as void sync(void) in <unistd.h>. The system call is also available via a command line utility also called sync, and similarly named functions in other languages such as Perl and NodeJS (in the fs module).

The related system call fsync() commits just the buffered data relating to a specified file descriptor. fdatasync() is also available to write out just the changes made to the data in the file, and not necessarily the file’s related metadata.

Unix systems typically run some kind of flush or update daemon, which calls the sync function on a regular basis. On some systems, the cron daemon does this, and on Linux it’s handled by the pdflush daemon. Buffers are also flushed when filesystems are unmounted or remounted read-only[citation needed], for example prior to system shutdown.

Random information on the term “UNISON”:

Anti-racism includes beliefs, actions, movements, and policies adopted or developed to oppose racism.

By its nature, anti-racism tends to promote the view that racism in a particular society is both pernicious and socially pervasive, and that particular changes in political, economic, and/or social life are required to eliminate it.

The European discovery of the Americas by Christopher Columbus did not occur until 1492. However, two Papal bulls announced several decades before that event were designed to help ward off increasing Muslim invasions into Europe, which they believed would have an effect on the New World.

When Islam presented a serious military threat to Italy and Central Europe during the mid-15th century around the time of the fall of Constantinople, Pope Nicholas V tried to unite Christendom against them but failed. He then granted Portugal the right to subdue and even enslave Muslims whether white or any other race, pagans and other non-Christians in the papal bull Dum Diversas (1452). While this bull preceded the Atlantic slave trade by several decades, slavery and the slave trade were part of African societies and tribes which supplied the Arab world with slaves long before the arrival of the Europeans.
