Francis Gurry (born 17 May 1951) is an Australian national and the fourth and current Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). He is also Secretary-General of the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV). Gurry previously served as a Deputy Director General of WIPO from 2003 to 2008.

Gurry graduated in 1974 from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Laws and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria, Australia in 1975. He worked in Melbourne as an articled clerk and solicitor at Arthur Robinson & Co. (now Allens) and earned a Master of Laws degree from the University of Melbourne in 1976. From 1976 to 1979, Gurry was a research student at the Faculty of Law at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, from which he was awarded a PhD in 1980 for his thesis dealing with breach of confidence.

Before joining WIPO, Gurry was a senior lecturer in law at the University of Melbourne and, for one year, a solicitor at Freehills, Melbourne. He was also a visiting professor of law at the University of Dijon, France.

Over is a large village near the River Great Ouse in the English county of Cambridgeshire, just east of the Prime Meridian.

The parish covers an area of approximately 2,535 acres (1,026 ha). It is ten miles (16 km) east of the town of Huntingdon and is also ten miles (16 km) northwest from the city of Cambridge.

Over contains the basic village facilities, including a primary school, shop, one public house (the Admiral Vernon) and St. Mary’s Church. In recent years, the village has expanded rapidly, with the inclusion of several housing estates, a community and conference centre and modern sporting facilities. An Over day centre was set up in 1989 by Dr. Pamela Cressey. The Over Community Centre was set up with National Lottery funding of almost £1 million in 1999.

Some archaeologists[who?] believe that the ridge of slightly higher land upon which the village stands was the furthest intrusion inland of the sea — unlike the villages in the fens, which were often surrounded by watery land after the sea receded. Over was an edge-of-fen settlement.

ON was a solo project of Ken Andrews, which he started after the breakup of his previous band, Failure. The music of ON was not unlike that of Failure in terms of songwriting, but the overall sound was more based on electronics, with less emphasis on guitars and the typical heavy rock sound.

ON was signed to Epic Records in 1999, and the first single, “Soluble Words”, was released late that year. It contains four versions of the song, including a remix by Martin Gore of Depeche Mode, and an exclusive track called “Your Sister Says John” (written by Andrews’ friend Jordon Zadorozny of Blinker the Star).

After several months, ON’s album Shifting Skin was released in June 2000. Ken then assembled a backing band, which consisted of drummer Tim Dow (ex-Shiner/Season to Risk), bassist Tommy Walter (Abandoned Pools), guitarist Joey Sykes, and keyboardist Kevin Moore, and took ON on tour. Another single, “Slingshot”, was serviced to radio, bubbling just under the Alternative Top 50; but the album didn’t sell well, and Epic eventually released Andrews from his contract.
