George Ervin “Sonny” Perdue III (born December 20, 1946) is an American politician who is the 31st United States Secretary of Agriculture, in office since 2017. Perdue previously served as the 81st Governor of Georgia from 2003 to 2011. Upon his inauguration as Governor on January 13, 2003, he became the first Republican Governor of Georgia since Reconstruction.
Perdue currently serves on the Governors’ Council of the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, DC, and is Secretary of Agriculture in the Cabinet of Donald Trump. Perdue is only the second Secretary of Agriculture from the Deep South. The first was Mike Espy of Mississippi, who served under President Bill Clinton from January 1993 to December 1994.
On January 18, 2017, Donald Trump announced that he would nominate Perdue to be Secretary of Agriculture. His nomination was transmitted to the Senate on March 9, 2017. His nomination was approved by the United States Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry on March 30, by a 19-1 voice vote and by the entire Senate in a vote of 87-11 on April 24.

Hud is a 1963 Western film directed by Martin Ritt and starring Paul Newman, Melvyn Douglas and Patricia Neal. It was produced by Ritt and Newman’s recently founded company, Salem Productions, and was their first film for Paramount Pictures. Hud was filmed on location on the Texas Panhandle, including Claude, Texas. Its screenplay was by Irving Ravetch and Harriet Frank, Jr. and was based on Larry McMurtry’s 1961 novel, Horseman, Pass By. The film’s title character, Hud Bannon, was a minor character in the original screenplay but was reworked as the lead role. With its main character an antihero, Hud was later described as a revisionist Western.
The film centers on the ongoing conflict between principled patriarch Homer Bannon and his unscrupulous and arrogant son, Hud, during an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease putting the family’s cattle ranch at risk. Lonnie, Homer’s grandson and Hud’s nephew, is caught in the conflict and forced to choose which character to follow.
Hud premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, and was a critical and commercial success at its general release. It was nominated for seven Academy Awards, winning three; Patricia Neal won Best Actress, Melvyn Douglas won Best Supporting Actor and James Wong Howe the Academy Award for Best Black and White Cinematography. Howe’s use of contrast to create space and his selection of black-and-white was favored by critics. In later reviews, the film received additional praise.

Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) is a medical group of seven unique hospitals and a cancer centre located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. In 2014 it was ranked 2nd in Canada on Research Infosource’s Top 40 Hospitals in Canada list.
Hamilton Health Sciences is affiliated with McMaster University Medical School. In October 2008, the Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation was named one of “Canada’s Top 100 Employers” by Mediacorp Canada Inc., and was featured in Maclean’s newsmagazine.
It was formed in 1996 when Hamilton General, Henderson General, McMaster University Medical Centre, McMaster Children’s Hospital and Chedoke Hospital merged to form Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation; this union formed one of the largest teaching hospitals in Ontario with four sites, approximately 8,000 employees and 1,000 physicians. St. Peter’s Hospital became part of Hamilton Health Sciences in 2008.
The David Braley Cardiac, Vascular and Stroke Research Institute opened in 2010 and is located behind the Hamilton General Hospital. It is a $90-million Research Centre and employees nearly 500 scientists. The new building is 165,000 square feet (15,300 m2). David Braley contributed $10-million towards the project.
