Random information on the term “HAN”:

The Han Chinese (simplified Chinese: 汉族; traditional Chinese: 漢族; pinyin: Hànzú; lit. ‘Han ethnic group’), or the Han people (汉人; 漢人; Hànrén), is an East Asian ethnic group and nation native to China. They constitute the world’s largest ethnic group, making up about 18% of the global population and consisting of various subgroups speaking distinctive varieties of the Chinese language.[30][31] The estimated 1.4 billion Han Chinese people, worldwide, are primarily concentrated in the People’s Republic of China, where they make up about 92% of the total population. In the Republic of China (Taiwan), they make up about 97% of the population.[32][33] People of Han Chinese descent also make up around 75% of the total population of Singapore.[34]

Historically native to northern China, the Han Chinese trace their cultural ancestry to the Huaxia, the initial confederation of agricultural tribes living along the Yellow River.[35][36] The term Huaxia refers to the collective Neolithic confederation of agricultural tribes Hua and Xia who settled along the Central Plains around the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River in northern China.[37][38][39][36] These tribes were the ancestors of the modern Han Chinese people who gave birth to Chinese civilization. During the Warring States period, an early but discernible cultural consciousness emerged, with the Zhou-era Chinese beginning to refer to themselves as Huaxia (literally, “the beautiful grandeur”), which was distinctively used to allude to themselves as a “civilized” culture in contrast to what they perceived as “barbaric” cultures in the bordering vicinities, inhabited by different non-Han peoples.[40][38][41][42]
