Random information on the term “EARN”:

The European Academic and Research Network (EARN) was a computer network connecting universities and research institutions across Europe, and was connected in 1983 via transatlantic circuits and a gateway funded by IBM to BITNET, its peer in the United States.

Services available on EARN/BITNET included electronic mail, file transfer, real-time terminal messages, and access to EARN server machines which provided information retrieval services. Gateways existed from EARN to the ARPA Internet (ARPANET, MILNET, NSFNET, CSNET X25Net), CSNET, UUCP, JANET (Great Britain’s Joint Academic Network), and more than 10 other national academic and research networks. There also was limited access to VNET, IBM’s internal communications network.

At the network layer EARN was based on a “store-and-forward” technology. In a “store-and-forward” network information is sent to an intermediate node where it is kept and sent as soon as possible to the next node on the path to its final destination. The intermediate node verifies the integrity of the message before forwarding it. Each time the intermediate node confirms the receipt of the data the originating node deletes it. The EARN “store-and-forward” system was originally based on IBM’s technology and used the Remote Spooling Communications Subsystem (RSCS) and NJE/NJI protocols on the IBM Virtual Machine (VM) mainframe operating systems, and JES2 (and later JES3, Job Entry Subsystem) on IBM MVS mainframe operating systems.

Random information on the term “RID”:

Isaiah di Trani ben Mali (the Elder) (c. 1180 – c. 1250) (Hebrew: ישעיה בן מאלי הזקן דטראני‎), better known as the RID, was a prominent Italian Talmudist.

Isaiah originated in Trani (David Conforte, Ḳore ha-Dorot, p. 15a), an ancient settlement of Jewish scholarship, and lived probably in Venice. He carried on a correspondence with Simhah of Speyer and with Simḥah’s two pupils, Isaac ben Moses of Vienna (Or Zarua, i.88, 218, 220) and Abigdor Cohen of the same city. Isaiah himself probably lived for some time in the Orient. He left a learned son, David, and a daughter, with whose son, Isaiah ben Elijah di Trani, he has often been confounded.

Isaiah was a very prolific writer. He wrote: Nimmuḳim or Nimmuḳe Ḥomesh, a commentary on the Pentateuch, consisting mainly of glosses on Rashi which show him to have been, as Güdemann says, an acute critic rather than a dispassionate exegete. The work has been printed as an appendix to Azulai’s Pene Dawid (Leghorn, 1792); extracts from it have been published in Stern’s edition of the Pentateuch (Vienna, 1851) under the title Peṭure Ẓiẓẓim (see also Berliner, Rashi, p. xii); and Zedekiah ben Abraham, author of Shibbole ha-Leḳeṭ and a pupil of Isaiah, composed glosses on it in 1297 (Leipzig MS. No. 15, p. 318). As regards other Bible commentaries ascribed to him, see Isaiah di Trani the Younger. Isaiah also wrote an introduction (petiḥah) to a seliḥah beginning with [missing Hebrew text] (Maḥzor Rome, ed. Luzzatto, p. 32, Introduction), which has been metrically translated into German by Zunz (“S.P.” p. 299; see idem, Literaturgesch. p. 336).

Laurențiu Buș (born 27 August 1987 in Cluj-Napoca) is a Romanian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Botoșani. He last played for Liga Leumit club Hapoel Nir Ramat HaSharon. His younger brother is Sergiu Buș, also a footballer who plays for English club Sheffield Wednesday.

Buș started playing football at U Cluj. In the 2003-2004 season he was promoted to the first team. Young Buș impressed Politehnica 1921 Ştiinţa Timişoara’s manager, Gheorghe Hagi, who transferred him in 2006. Soon after that, Gheorghe Hagi was replaced by Sorin Cârţu and Laurențiu Buș was sent to the club’s second team, Politehnica 1921 Știința Timișoara II. In 2007 Buș returned to U Cluj and helped the team to promote in Liga I. In the summer of 2009 he was transferred at Arieşul Turda. In January 2010 he signed with FC Oţelul Galaţi but was loaned back immediately at Arieșul, being unable to play for a third team in the 2009-2010 season, having already played one match for U Cluj at the start of the season.

Random information on the term “FAIR”:

A trade fair (trade show, trade exhibition, or expo) is an exhibition organized so that companies in a specific industry can showcase and demonstrate their latest products and services, meet with industry partners and customers, study activities of rivals, and examine recent market trends and opportunities. In contrast to consumer fairs, only some trade fairs are open to the public, while others can only be attended by company representatives (members of the trade, e.g. professionals) and members of the press, therefore trade shows are classified as either “public” or “trade only”. A few fairs are hybrids of the two; one example is the Frankfurt Book Fair, which is trade only for its first three days and open to the general public on its final two days. They are held on a continuing basis in virtually all markets and normally attract companies from around the globe. For example, in the U.S., there are currently over 10,000 trade shows held every year, and several online directories have been established to help organizers, attendees, and marketers identify appropriate events.
