Random information on the term “STE”:

Established in 1908, the Stockton Terminal and Eastern Railroad (reporting mark STE) provides service to several companies around the Stockton area, in San Joaquin County, California.

It is a former Southern Pacific Transportation Company line. OmniTRAX acquired the ST&E in 2011.

The railroad operates 25 miles of track connecting with the BNSF Railway, the Union Pacific Railroad, and the Central California Traction Company (CTT).

Being located in Stockton places the STE in a good situation for the consolidation and distribution of freight for companies in the region. The companies include PDM Steel, Lipton, and the Salt River Materials Group. The Port of Stockton is served by the connecting Central California Traction Company (CTT)

The Stockton Terminal and Eastern locomotive No. 1 is on display at the Travel Town Museum in Griffith Park, located in Los Angeles, California.

Random information on the term “ENC”:

Eastern North Carolina (sometimes abbreviated as ENC) is the region encompassing the eastern tier of North Carolina. It is known geographically as the state’s Coastal Plain region. Primary subregions of Eastern North Carolina include the Lower Cape Fear (Wilmington Area), the Sandhills, the Inner Banks and the Outer Banks. It is composed of the 41 most eastern counties in the state. Large cities include Greenville, Jacksonville, and Wilmington. In 1993, the State Legislature established seven regional economic development organizations and three of these serve eastern North Carolina – Northeast North Carolina Commission (covering 16 counties), North Carolina East Alliance (representing 13 counties surrounding North Carolina’s Global TransPark), and North Carolina’s Southeast Commission (assisting 11 counties).

New transitions are being made in the geography of the economic sectors. Economic Development Commissions are transforming, such as North Carolina’s Eastern Region Commission’s transition into North Carolina East Alliance. Different EDC’s have different ways to increase prosperity in the area. NCEA’s first focus is to improve the talent pipeline to create a more comprehensive local workforce. Shoop, the Commissioner for Washington’s EDC stated “In a private setting, they would be able to access different funds for additional economic projects or initiatives in the county.”

Random information on the term “POB”:

The Paris Opera Ballet (French: “Ballet de l’Opéra national de Paris”) is an integral part of the Paris Opera and the oldest national ballet company. Together with the Moscow Bolshoi Ballet and the London Royal Ballet it is regarded as one of the three most preeminent ballet companies in the world.

Since August 2016 the company has been under the direction of Aurélie Dupont, the “Directrice de la Danse”.

The ballet company consists of 154 dancers, among them 17 Danseurs Étoiles. The principal dancers give 180 dance performances each year, primarily at the Palais Garnier.

Just as prestigious as the Paris Opera Ballet is its dance school, the Paris Opera Ballet School (French: “École de danse de l’Opéra national de Paris”), considered as the world’s best dance school. Its former pupils have won a record of 20 Benois de la Danse awards. The school celebrated its tercentennial in 2013.

The competition for admission to both institutions is extremely fierce. To be admitted there, to pass the annual competitive examinations in May, and to attend at least the final two classes is basically compulsory for dancers entering the Paris Opera Ballet.
