Random information on the term “ACTS”:

The Acts of the Apostles is a genre of Early Christian literature, recounting the lives and works of the apostles of Jesus. The Acts are important for many reasons, one of them being the concept of apostolic succession. They also provide insight into the valuation of “missionary activities among the exotic races,” since some of them feature missionary work done among, for instance, the Cynocephaly.

One work in this genre is included in the New Testament canon, entitled simply Acts of the Apostles or Acts, and primarily concerns the activities of Saint Peter, John the Apostle, and Paul the Apostle, a convert. It is presumably the second part of a two-part work, the Canonical Gospel of Luke being the first part, with both works being addressed to Theophilus, and sharing a similar style.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (H.R. 803; Pub.L. 113–128) (WIOA) is a United States public law that consolidates job training programs under the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) into a single funding stream. It will also amend the Wagner-Peyser Act, reauthorize adult-education programs, and reauthorize programs under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The various job programs will be authorized for six years with a requirement that they record and report on how many people get new jobs through their participation in the programs.

The bill was originally introduced into the United States House of Representatives as the “Supporting Knowledge and Investing in Lifelong Skills Act” or “SKILLS Act”. This happened during the 113th United States Congress.

In 2015, the bill was amended by the To amend the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act to improve the Act (S. 1124, Pub.L. 114–18)

The federal jobs training programs from this bill were first authorized in 1998, an authorization that expired in 2003 and Congress was unable to subsequently reauthorize.

Random information on the term “GOES”:

GOES 13, known as GOES-N before becoming operational, is an American weather satellite which forms part of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite system. On April 14, 2010, GOES-13 became the operational weather satellite for GOES-EAST.

GOES-N was launched aboard a Boeing Delta IV-M+(4,2) rocket, flying from Space Launch Complex 37B at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The launch occurred at 22:11:00 GMT on 24 May 2006.

The launch had been delayed significantly due to a number of issues. First, it had been scheduled to fly on a Delta III, but after three consecutive failures on its first three flights, the Delta III was cancelled, with GOES launches being transferred to the Delta IV. Further delays were caused after the previous Delta IV launch, the maiden flight of the Heavy configuration, suffered a partial failure. Then, two launch attempts in August 2005 were scrubbed, the second attempt just four minutes and twenty six seconds prior to liftoff.
