Random information on the term “Razor __”:

The Glasgow razor gangs were violent gangs that existed in the South Side of Glasgow in the late-1920s and 1930s and were named for their weapon of choice.

The book No Mean City contains a fictionalised account of these gangs.

Historically Glasgow has had the highest number of street gangs in the UK. There were six times more gangs in Glasgow[when?] than in London, the UK capital, which is geographically ten times as large. In the late 1960s a moral panic swept Glasgow with media and police attention focused on new youth gangs that were younger, more violent and more dangerous than the Glasgow razor gangs of the 1920s and 1930s.

The tradition of gang formation in the city stretched back at least to the 1880s, and gang rivalries appear to have derived a momentum of their own during the late 19th century, irrespective of short-term economic trends, both in Glasgow and in other British municipalities.

Religious sectarianism had been rife in Scotland for decades; however, the centre of it all was in Glasgow. Originally, Glasgow had been mainly Protestant, but in the 19th and 20th centuries, large numbers of Roman Catholic Irish immigrants came to the west coast of Scotland; drawn by jobs in the local industries and higher quality of life in Scotland.

One of its main uses is on mail servers as a server-side email virus scanner. The application was developed for Unix and has third party versions available for AIX, BSD, HP-UX, Linux, macOS, OpenVMS, OSF (Tru64) and Solaris. As of version 0.97.5, ClamAV builds and runs on Microsoft Windows. Both ClamAV and its updates are made available free of charge.

Sourcefire, a maker of intrusion detection products and the owner of Snort, announced on 17 August 2007 that it had acquired the trademarks and copyrights to ClamAV from five key developers. Upon joining Sourcefire, the ClamAV team joined the Sourcefire VRT. In turn, Sourcefire was acquired by Cisco in 2013. The Sourcefire Vulnerability Research Team (VRT) became Cisco Talos, and ClamAV development remains there.

ClamAV includes a number of utilities: a command-line scanner, automatic database updater and a scalable multi-threaded daemon, running on an anti-virus engine from a shared library.
