The airline was established in 1991 and started operations on February 3, 1992. It started scheduled flights to Bari on February 5, 1992, and was accepted by the IATA on May 25, 1992. The city is located approximately 13 miles (21 km) northwest of the geographic center of South Carolina, and is the primary city of the Midlands region of the state.
