Random information on the term “PER”:

The Western Australian Herbarium is the State Herbarium in Perth, Western Australia. It is part of the State government’s Department of Parks and Wildlife, and has responsibility for the description and documentation of the flora of Western Australia.

The Herbarium is linked to the Regional Herbaria Network – which links approximately 84 regional community groups which have local reference collections.

In 2000, with the Wildflower Society of Western Australia and the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority it published The Western Australian Flora – A Descriptive Catalogue.

The Herbarium was formed as the amalgamation of three separate government department herbaria: those of the Western Australian Museum, the Department of Agriculture, and the “forest herbarium” maintained by the Conservator of Forests. The first of these was formed by Bernard Henry Woodward, Director of the Museum and Art Gallery, probably around 1895; the second was probably formed with the appointment of Alexander Morrison as botanist to the Department of Agriculture in 1897. In 1906 the Department of Agriculture handed its herbarium over to the Museum, but reclaimed it in 1911. The “forest herbarium” commenced in 1916. Around 1928, the Government took the decision to amalgamate the three into a single State Herbarium, to be managed by the Department of Agriculture. The “forest herbarium” was handed over more or less immediately, but the Museum was opposed to the merger, and did not finally hand over its specimens until around 1959. In 1988 departmental responsibility was shifted from the Department of Agriculture to the Department of Conservation and Land Management (now the Department of Parks and Wildlife).

Random information on the term “OVER”:

Over is a large village near the River Great Ouse in the English county of Cambridgeshire, just east of the Prime Meridian.

The parish covers an area of approximately 2,535 acres (1,026 ha). It is ten miles (16 km) east of the town of Huntingdon and is also ten miles (16 km) northwest from the city of Cambridge.

Over contains the basic village facilities, including a primary school, shop, one public house (the Admiral Vernon) and St. Mary’s Church. In recent years, the village has expanded rapidly, with the inclusion of several housing estates, a community and conference centre and modern sporting facilities. An Over day centre was set up in 1989 by Dr. Pamela Cressey. The Over Community Centre was set up with National Lottery funding of almost £1 million in 1999.

Some archaeologists[who?] believe that the ridge of slightly higher land upon which the village stands was the furthest intrusion inland of the sea — unlike the villages in the fens, which were often surrounded by watery land after the sea receded. Over was an edge-of-fen settlement.

Random information on the term “VIA”:

The 6522 Versatile Interface Adapter (VIA) is an integrated circuit that was designed and manufactured by MOS Technology as an I/O port controller for the 6502 family of microprocessors. It provides parallel I/O, timers, and a shift register for serial communications. The 6522 was second sourced, by other companies including, Rockwell and Synertek.

The 6522 was widely used in computers of the 1980s, particularly Commodore’s machines, and was also a central part of the designs of the Apple III, Oric-1 and Oric Atmos, BBC Microcomputer and Apple Macintosh. Video game platforms such as the Vectrex also used the 6522, as did the 1984 through 1989 Corvette digital dash cluster. A high speed, CMOS version, the W65C22, is produced by the Western Design Center (WDC).

The VIA contains 20 I/O lines, which are organised into two 8-bit bidirectional ports (or 16 general-purpose I/O lines) and four control lines (for handshaking and interrupt generation). The directions for all 16 general lines (PA0-7, PB0-7) can be programmed independently. The control lines can be programmed to generate an interrupt when activated (all four), latch the corresponding I/O port (CA1 and CB1), automatically generate handshaking signals for devices on the I/O ports, or output a plain High or Low signal.
