Random information on the term “KITS”:

KSFO (560 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in San Francisco, California. It is owned by Cumulus Media and it airs a talk radio format. The station’s studios and offices are in the city’s SoMa district. The transmitter is located off Amidor Street at the end of Islais Creek where it meets the San Francisco Bay. KSFO operates with 5,000 watts around the clock. However, at night, to avoid interference with other stations on AM 560, it uses a directional antenna.

One of two Bay Area talk stations owned by Cumulus Media, KSFO carries conservative syndicated shows, including Armstrong & Getty, The Rush Limbaugh Show, and The Mark Levin Show. KSFO is also the flagship station for The Savage Nation. Weekends feature shows on money, health, real estate, gardening, cars and home repair, some of which are paid brokered programming, including The Tech Guy and The Truth About Money with Ric Edelman.

KSFO first broadcast in 1925 in Oakland with call letters KTAB, a frequency of 1390 kHz, and 1,000 watts of power. KTAB stood for its first owner, the Tenth Avenue Baptist Church. KTAB’s debut broadcast at 8 p.m. on August 1, 1925 featured a doxology from the church choir, classical music performancea from trumpeter Grace Adams East and others, and a speech by the Reverend George W. Phillips, the church’s pastor. The Bureau of Navigation granted KTAB its first broadcast license on August 10, 1925, and KTAB began broadcasting daily from 1250 kHz eight days later. In its early months, KTAB had a noncommercial format primarily with broadcasts of church services.
